Crime/Safety Team
This group addresses issues that have to do with the keeping the Village a safe and secure place to work and shop. There are two areas they address:

1. Security. Montclair Village is a very safe place to work and shop but crime can happen anywhere. Most businesses employ intrusion alarms, cameras and the services of alarm response companies, just to be safe. The Village augments these practices by working closely with the Oakland Police in identifying any crime issues and trends, and by paying for the services of a private security firm. This private company provides patrols to walk the streets during the day and to drive through the Village after business hours. Our current private security firm is All About Security (AAS).
   
   In 2008 and 2009 this Team also conducted a series of computer safety training sessions, where merchants and area residents learned how to protect sensitive computer data from being compromised.
   
   
2. Safety. Pedestrian safety extremely important in the Village. This team works with City agencies to ensure crosswalks are painted, safety signs are posted, and sidewalk hazards are addressed. The Team is also investigating the purchase and installation of security cameras in selected public spaces to add to the safe feeling in the Village.
